2008 Troy Strawberry Festival...
The 2008 Troy Strawberry festival was June 7th and 8th. Once again the MVBM sold ice cream from our booth on the levy. The weather on Saturday was not the greatest and sales were slow as the levy was actually shut down for a while due to lightning. Sunday weather was much better and many festival patrons enjoyed slurping up the delicious Gerlachs ice cream from our booth. A big thanks goes out to all of the Miami Valley Bassmasters members is helped out. Two Tournament Draws At Last Meeting... After realizing that the next meeting would have to be held on the July 4th weekend in order to draw for O'Shaunghnessy, it was decided to go ahead and draw at the last meeting on June 15th. If you missed the June meeting and you would like to fish the OShaunghnessy tournament please contact Chris Pope or email miamivalleybassmasters@earthlink.net to get signed up. Your tourney fees would be due the morning of the tournament. Steve Schulz wins Indian Lake Tourney... MVBM President Steve Schulz once again took the prize at the recent Indian Lake tournament. Steve weighed in a limit of three fish totaling four pounds, three ounces. Bret Reid slid into second place with a weight of three pounds, fifteen ounces. Scott Fourman rounded out the top three with three pounds, ten ounces. Don Bodiker caught a two pound, four ounce fish to take the big bass pot. Congratulations to all our winners. The conditions at Indian for the tournament were pretty good if you consider the pummeling the lake took that weekend. There were at least five tournaments held on Indian the weekend of June 21st / 22nd. Four were held on Sunday including our MVBM tourney. Needless to say the summer pressure was on. We got out early ahead of the other groups and had the first hour to ourselves before the roar of the moundwood blast-offs could be heard all over the lake. There were a few brief showers in the afternoon but they passed through quickly and served to cool things down a little. Overall it was a nice day for all. |
